HOORAY FOR HIGH-PROTEIN DIETS


New research from the USDA's grand forks human Nutrition Research

Center has found that high-protein diets- previously thought to decrease

calcium levels and thus negatively impact bones- actually pose no hazard

to bone health. Researchers found that those people who received 20%

of daily calories from meat protein retained as much calcium as those

receiving only 12% protein daily; both groups supplemented with 600 mg

daily of calcium.
