| Seavive Testimonial |
| Ironman Repair with SeaVive® by JulieAnne White I have just returned from the 25th Anniversary Ironman World Championships held on the big island of Hawaii in Kona. This race is very familiar to me as a former world class Ironman athlete but now I am privileged to experience this prestigious event as the coach of six world class athletes entered in the race. Every year for the past 25 seasons of Ironman racing, the world's best And fittest endurance athletes travel to Kona to compete on the World stage of triathlon in its complete glory. What sets this race apart from all others are the unpredictable race conditions and ancient island folklore beliefs with Madame Pele tending to rule on the day. If you are lucky enough to fall within the grace of Madame Pele, you will be blessed with her care and guidance on race day but those who have fallen out of grace will experience her wrath. The event starts with a 2.4 mile ocean swim which can be flat as a pancake or as choppy as a whirling dervish. The swim is immediately followed by a 112 mile bike ride across the ancient lava fields where temperatures can reach up to 125 degrees on the black surface. Athletes then finish with a 26.2 mile marathon through the town of Kona leading up to the Queen K highway, finishing once again in Kona with thousands of spectators lining the route. Any one of these events alone can cause extreme stress not only to the immune system, but also to the muscular-skeletal structure and, of course, the gastrointestinal tract. Some of the triathletes in this prestigious event have spent the past 6-12 months in preparation, training anywhere from 3-8 hrs per day. While 10% of the entrants are professional athletes, the remainder are amateurs who have families with children and full-time busy careers....now that is stress! Think about it for a moment......the physical and mental demands required day in, day out endured by the body to perform at optimal levels! I know of one particularly special and gifted athlete who I worked with over the past year in preparation for the Ironman World Championships. His name is John Dermengian and his story has been followed on Semicolon.org under the title "Road to Kona". This is the last chapter of his successful journey to the Ironman World Championships. John is an inspiration to all of us as he is an ostomate, meaning he must live and train with a Colostomy bag. His determination, dedication and perseverance prevailed as we shared in celebrating his finish of the 25th Silver Anniversary Ironman World Championships. In training, he would bike 5 plus hours in preparation for the 112 mile bike segment for this event. He would run 3 plus hours in hot and windy conditions, in addition to ocean swims of 2.4 miles with a master's group, ALL the while living with a colostomy as a result of colorectal surgery. I was privileged to be the guest of John and Christie Dermengian at their Kona residence perched on a hilltop with gloriously warm sunsets and fresh ocean breezes as we celebrated John's journey and completion of Ironman. It was a picturesque postcard finish as John crossed the finish line with his friend and training partner. John embraced the true meaning of the Ironman family and experience by stopping to help his friend enroute during the marathon portion of the race as he was experiencing gastrointestinal difficulties. John initiated the repair and recovery stage post Ironman with SeaVive daily before meals on an empty stomach. SeaVive is a dietary supplement used for immune support, gastrointestinal support and repair, in addition to the benefits of muscular repair due to the high content of Seacure hydrolized fish-protein. SeaVive contains Seacure, a small amount of sodium naturally present in the raw material, high-quality protein, vitamin C, Omega 3 naturally occurring in the white fish, colostrum and B-1, 3-D Glucan needed for immune repair. Completing an Ironman for typical triathletes, even those without any complications, results in immense immune depression. Therefore one needs to facilitate a balanced nutritional programme that supports not only muscle and structural healing, but also immune recovery. This means providing the nutrients needed without the unnecessary stress of highly processed foods, difficult to digest foods or foods that tend to contribute to intolerance or sensitivity. John is following a recovery program of SeaVive twice daily on an empty stomach along with several smaller meals frequently of lean protein such as fish containing the essential fatty acids of Omega 3 & 6, complex carbs found in fresh fruit and vegetables and grains such as brown rice, teff, spelt and quinoa. However, most importantly he follows a regular hydration routine including plenty of fresh water in balance with equal amounts of electrolyte fluids such as Gpush. I have observed John’s recovery post Ironman for several days, and noted John’s positive condition along with his comments of very good energy levels and no muscular stiffness to cause complaints. This came as no surprise to me as the benefits associated with SeaVive and Seacure as part of a sound recovery regimen have assisted me on many occasions to recover and rejuvenate very quickly from extreme physical exertion both while racing and training. The added supplements reduce physical recovery time, support gastrointestinal function during this crucial period, and bolster immune health ultimately resulting in a more positive Ironman experience. SeaVive is definitely the "Ironman" of supplemental recovery! |
